Inventory Management For Furniture Store

Integrated the Vtiger inventory with a UNIX based legacy system for inventory control using specialized integration methodologies proprietary to the UNIX system. Implemented and managed customer rewards programs as a part of this integration.

Project Summary

This was a very unique project that required inventory management for a part of the business using Vtiger. The main purpose of this integration was to track the customer rewards points and make them available via web for redemption towards a designated portion of the inventory available online. The integration was not easy and specialized methods were used to pull and push data from and to the UNIX inventory system that was tightly coupled with the store’s point of sale system. The customer loyalty points were also pulled from the UNIX system and stored in Vtiger to make the points available to the customers for online redemption.

A redemption engine was implemented to calculate the points and allow for redemption towards a set of items in the inventory. The changes to the point and the inventory were updated back into the UNIX system using the same integration methodology. Since the UNIX system was very old, there were several challenges in terms of ensuring that the data updates were made consistently with every online transaction. Shell scripts were developed to validate the data using batch processes to ensure that the two systems were always in sync.
